My Philosophy of Education
Classroom Management
I see my students as individual learners each with unique strengths and learning styles. It is important that I respect these differences and use a variety of teaching techniques and tools in order to teach the students; for example, balancing a mix of quiet, kinesthetic, visual, hands-on and auditory experiences. The teacher should respect the students and allow for student choice. This means, at times, allowing the student to choose what they want to learn about along with providing horizontal enrichment for students who finish work early. Also, in order to assess the students, the teacher should use a variety of strategies in order to have a clearer picture of where the students are at in their learning.
In order for the classroom to function in the best possible manner, the classroom should reflect good classroom management structured by the teacher. This would include things like rules, routines, procedures, time fillers, horizontal enrichment set up in centers, class jobs, student responsibilities and classroom organization of materials.
